Teaching within Community

For almost a decade, every aspect of my life has revolved around community and education. Education is the path forward, but without a passion for knowledge, it becomes difficult to connect with our students.
Competing in pageants taught me how to find my confidence and use my voice. Participating in Alternative Learning while in high school taught me the value of real-world and hands-on learning. Working at The Center for Wooden Boats allowed me to serve my community by providing high-quality STEM and sailing education, while also building networks for our future leaders in the maritime and marine industry.
I aim to continue working as an educator in any capacity, whether in the classroom or through nonprofit work. Additionally, someday I hope to continue research in education while working towards a Ph.D. I hope always to help inspire the next generation to keep exploring and to be curious in their everyday lives, just as many teachers and mentors did for me.
